A24 has officially announced the highly anticipated Eddington release date window for its upcoming thriller, directed by the renowned filmmaker Ari Aster. Production on this star-studded film commenced in March 2024, and it is currently in the exciting phase of post-production, where the final touches are being added to create a captivating cinematic experience.
The gripping narrative centers on a couple who find themselves stranded in a seemingly quaint small town in New Mexico. Initially, they receive a warm welcome from the locals, but as night falls, the atmosphere shifts dramatically, revealing the town’s darker secrets. The studio has set its sights on a summer 2025 release date for Eddington, marking the latest project in Aster’s fruitful collaboration with A24. This partnership has previously yielded critically acclaimed films like 2018’s Hereditary, 2019’s Midsommar, and 2023’s Beau Is Afraid. Notably, the upcoming film is rumored to be vying for a prestigious debut at the Cannes Film Festival. Aster not only writes and directs but also produces the film alongside Lars Knudsen through their production company, Square Peg. The talented director of photography Darius Khondji is also part of this exceptional creative team, with A24 financing and producing the project.
Leading the cast are Academy Award winners Joaquin Phoenix (known for his role in Joker) and Emma Stone (who won accolades for La La Land), along with Golden Globe winner Austin Butler (famous for his portrayal in Elvis) and Emmy nominee Pedro Pascal (recognized for his performance in The Last of Us). Phoenix is set to play the role of a town sheriff with grand aspirations, while details regarding the characters of Stone, Butler, and Pascal remain closely guarded.
