
Samuel L. Jackson Honored by Denzel Washington at MoMA Movie Profit
Samuel L. Jackson was honored Thursday on the Museum of Fashionable’s 2024 Movie Profit in New York Metropolis.
“I’ve at all times believed that cinema has been and continues to be a strong medium, transcends language, shifts societal paradigms and pushes us as viewers and artist to see the world from the views of others as we have fun movie tonight,” the actor talked about. “Let’s bear in mind the ability it has to alter lives and encourage future generations that profit from MoMA’s acquisition and preservation of movies like those that ignited the goals of slightly Black child sitting in a segregated Tennessee movie show to be standing earlier than you now. Introduced in collaboration with Chanel, the gala featured tributes from Denzel Washington, Spike Lee, Walton Goggins, Kenny Leon, LaTanya Richardson Jackson and MoMA’s chief curator of film Rajendra Roy along with pre-recorded messages from Scarlett Johansson, Brie Larson and George Lucas.
The evening closed with a effectivity by Grammy winner TEMS, who was launched by actress Danielle Deadwyler.
