In 2020, Olandria Carthen introduced herself online as ‘Bama Barbie’, and she is now embracing that title through a collaboration with Mattel. On April 7, she shared a video on Instagram showcasing herself in a replica of the iconic black-and-white swimsuit first worn by Barbie in 1959.
Carthen styled her hair in a high ponytail and completed her look with sunglasses while lounging on a float in the pool. She captioned her post, “It’s about to be a Barbie takeover! See you in the desert ?? #Ochella.” This was a clever reference to her role in leading Barbie’s inaugural festival tie-in at Coachella later this month.
