One of 2015’s biggest movies is officially on Peacock today, bringing another entry of one of the most iconic franchises to the streaming platform.
Which movie is currently streaming on Peacock?
Jurassic World, the film that essentially revived the Jurassic Park franchise, is now available on Peacock. Released in 2015, Jurassic World not only became the highest-grossing film in the Jurassic Park franchise but also ranked as the second-highest grossing film of 2015, surpassed only by the immensely successful Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
Jurassic World was directed by Colin Trevorrow and featured a star-studded cast including Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy, BD Wong, and Irrfan Khan. The film is set 22 years after the events of the original Jurassic Park and takes place on the original Isla Nublar, which has been transformed into a successful theme park named Jurassic World.
Jurassic World initiated a new era for the Jurassic Park series under Universal Pictures. The film was succeeded by two sequels: 2018’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and 2022’s Jurassic World Dominion, the latter of which featured Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern reprising their roles as Alan Grant, Ian Malcolm, and Ellie Sattler, respectively. These films were followed by 2025’s Jurassic World Rebirth.
The official synopsis states, “Located off the coast of Costa Rica, the Jurassic World luxury resort provides a habitat for an array of genetically engineered dinosaurs, including the vicious and intelligent Indominus rex. When the massive creature escapes, it sets off a chain reaction that causes the other dinosaurs to run amok. Now, it’s up to a former military man and animal expert to use his special skills to save two young brothers and the rest of the tourists from an all-out, prehistoric assault.”
