James Cameron is expressing his support for one of the most controversial films of 2025.
Cameron is renowned for directing several beloved blockbusters, including 1984’s The Terminator, 1986’s Aliens, 1989’s The Abyss, 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgment Day, 1994’s True Lies, 1997’s Titanic, 2009’s Avatar, and 2022’s Avatar: The Way of Water. His latest film is another sequel in the Avatar series, titled Avatar: Fire and Ash, which is currently showing in theaters across the United States.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cameron defended A House of Dynamite.
A House of Dynamite is directed by Kathryn Bigelow, to whom Cameron was previously married. Featuring an ensemble cast that includes Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Tracy Letts, Jared Harris, Gabriel Basso, and others, the film depicts how the United States government would respond to a ballistic missile being launched at Chicago. The film’s conclusion has sparked significant controversy, with some individuals who have real-life training on the subject also voicing criticisms.
Cameron stated he “utterly” supports the final act of A House of Dynamite as he believes it represents the “only possible ending.”
He elaborated, “But that’s not even really the point. The point is: From the moment the scenario began at minute zero when the missile was launched and detected, the outcome already sucked. There was no good outcome, and the movie spent two hours illustrating that there is no good outcome. We cannot countenance these weapons existing at all. And it all boils down to one guy in the American system, the president, who is the only person allowed to launch a nuclear strike, either offensively or defensively, and the lives of every person on the planet revolve around that one person. That’s the world we live in, and we need to remember that when we vote next time.”
