The A Quiet Place franchise, produced by Paramount, currently encompasses three films, including the latest installment, A Quiet Place: Day One, released last year. However, this film is not considered A Quiet Place Part III. Directed by Michael Sarnoski, Day One serves as a prequel, exploring themes within the same universe as the first two films and featuring a character tie-in to A Quiet Place Part II, yet it does not progress the central trilogy. Recent updates indicate that John Krasinski, the director of the initial two films, has found an opening in his schedule, which has now been confirmed by Deadline. Krasinski will return to write, direct, and produce the highly anticipated sequel, targeting a theatrical release on July 9, 2027.
Production responsibilities for A Quiet Place Part III will be shared by Krasinski and Allyson Seeger through their company Sunday Night Productions, in collaboration with Platinum Dunes. Notably, Sunday Night holds a first-look deal with Paramount, solidifying their role in the franchise’s future.
During the promotional phase for A Quiet Place Part II, which premiered in 2020, Krasinski revealed that he had already conceived elements for the third film while penning the sequel’s script. In an interview with Collider, he expressed, “I genuinely hadn’t thought about a second one when I was doing the first one. However, I really had these questions while I was doing it. I put the fires out in the distance in the first one, and I always thought to myself, ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if we got to explore where those fires lead to? Who’s on the other end of those fires?’ But I never thought that there would be a sequel. So then when I actually came around to writing the sequel, I started with the fires. And so this time, I think when my brain started wandering of questions of what would this mean later on, I started to write down notes in case I could prepare myself for a third one.”
Unlike its predecessor, A Quiet Place: Day One did not focus on the Abbott family, the central characters from the first two films. However, fans can expect A Quiet Place Part III to reunite audiences with the beloved Abbott family, although no casting announcements have been made at this time. The anticipation surrounding the return of these characters adds to the excitement for the upcoming film.
