24th Annual Golden Schmoes Winners Announced

Chris

And that’s a wrap on the 24th annual Golden Schmoes, likely the internet’s longest-running fan-voted awards (read all about our history here). Sinners and Weapons tied for the most awards won, with seven each. Sinners dominated the top winners’ list this year, winning most of the biggies — Favorite Movie, Director, and Actor. Following last night’s big Actor Award wins, could it be that The Golden Schmoes are ahead of the curve and Sinners may end up winning it all?

Weapons also performed exceptionally well, even if it was shut out of the top categories. The only other movie to win more than one award was One Battle After Another, which took home two acting prizes. There were also some nice surprises, like Rose Byrne winning Actress for If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You. I was happy to see The Naked Gun win for Best Comedy, although it had no real competition (this year looks very sparse for comedy, with the exception of the new Scary Movie). Marvel’s Thunderbolts, unexpectedly, also won for Most Underrated Movie (Caught Stealing got my vote), suggesting that fans are coming around this low-grossing Marvel movie now that it’s streaming. After you check out the winners below, make sure to let us know in the comments what you think.
