94% RT James Bond Entry Sets World Record on New Streaming Service

Everyone knows and loves Casino Royale. The introduction to Daniel Craig‘s 007 is one of the most iconic installments in the franchise, and, even with critical and commercial success at the time it debuted, it has still earned even greater positive recognition in the almost two decades since. The third-highest-grossing movie franchise in cinema history, Casino Royale was the revival 007 needed when it arrived, becoming the highest-grossing Bond flick of all time, until that was broken by 2012’s Skyfall.

However, perhaps the most eye-catching record the film broke was completing the most cannon rolls ever pulled off by a four-wheeled automobile, a feat made all the more remarkable when learning it was entirely unintentional. Now, almost 20 years on, Casino Royale is still hitting new milestones. Officially, at the time of writing, Craig’s first Bond film is one of the ten most-streamed movies on Prime Video in the U.S. At tenth in the list, Casino Royale joins an eye-catching host of other titles in the upper echelons, including the current #1: the Mark Wahlberg-led Play Dirty. For anyone yet to see Casino Royale, here’s a look at the movie’s synopsis:

“After receiving a license to kill, British Secret Service agent James Bond (Daniel Craig) heads to Madagascar, where he uncovers a link to Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), a man who finances terrorist organizations. Learning that Le Chiffre plans to raise money in a high-stakes poker game, MI6 sends Bond to play against him, gambling that their newest “00” operative will topple the man’s organization.”

‘Casino Royale’ Is a Critical Triumph

Directed by Martin Campbell and starring Craig alongside fellow relative newcomer Mads Mikkelsen, Casino Royale revamped Bond for a new era triumphantly. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds a critics’ score of 94%, one of the highest in the franchise, with the consensus on the site reading, “Casino Royale disposes of the silliness and gadgetry that plagued recent James Bond outings, and Daniel Craig delivers what fans and critics have been waiting for: a caustic, haunted, intense reinvention of 007.” To this day, the movie remains many people’s favorite Bond installment, highlighted by a strong 90% audience rating on the aforementioned review site.

Daniel Craig’s Casino Royale is one of the ten most-streamed movies on Prime Video. Make sure to stay tuned to Collider for more updates on the latest streaming stories.
