On being a father:
“I wanted to be a dad before I got with my girl. I wanted a little baby girl or boy, whatever God gave, and God blessed me with three.”
On family and fame, including visiting family in uptown New York while in disguise:
“I don’t like to show off when I go up there and stuff like that. Not saying that I’m showing off, but you know, my lifestyle is very fortunate. So I don’t like to flaunt that…rubbing it in less fortunate people’s faces, man. It’s very important. Humility, man. Humanity. You know, just being humble, for the most part. It’s so easy to get carried away with this stuff.”
On adulting and his workout music:
“I don’t even go to clubs, man. I go to jazz bars and stuff like that…I got motherf–king Charles Mingus, Miles Davis, Coltrane, of course, Dizzy Gillespie, and motherf–king Alice Coltrane.”
On his career:
“I never wanted to be anything other than a rapper.”
“Man, I miss my kids…Rza is finally starting to stand up for himself again because Rza used to bully the heck out of Riot when Riot couldn’t walk or talk. Now Riot goes and takes that boy’s book from him, takes his pacifier.”
“Rza don’t be talking. That’s Riot. He can’t stop running his mouth.”
On how his son told Rihanna he left the house without informing her:
“He was like, ‘Dada left. Dada left through the door.’ She told me, ‘You left?’ I’m like, Yeah, why? She said, ‘Because our son told me you left. It’d have been nice to say goodbye.’”
On wearing matching pajamas for Christmas but not sharing the pictures because he thinks it’s cringe:
“That ain’t me. [The kids] gone know the difference. Ma dukes got to get thrown under the bus.”
He also discussed getting into politics and whether he would run for Mayor of New York City, what it was like to have Trump advocating for his release from jail, being with Rihanna, how they maintain their relationship as two public figures, and what he learned from his trial. Watch inside…
