Acknowledging Her Absence During Abby’s Own Health Crisis

Abby Lee Miller has publicly addressed Kelly Hyland‘s ongoing battle with cancer, drawing attention to their tumultuous history from the reality show ‘Dance Moms’. In a candid interview, Abby emphasizes that she believes Kelly is fully capable of facing her health challenges without her support, particularly because of Kelly’s absence during Abby’s own serious health crisis.
During her conversation with TMZ, Abby shared her feelings about Kelly celebrating the end of her second round of treatment for breast cancer, a diagnosis she received in 2023. Abby expressed her inability to connect with such celebrations, as she was literally fighting for her life on her deathbed due to Burkitt lymphoma during her own health ordeal.
In case you missed it, Abby underwent a critical emergency spine surgery in April 2018 when doctors discovered a mass that was compressing her spine, leading to severe pain and paralysis. This major health intervention underscores the gravity of her past health struggles.
Abby also acknowledged that Kelly is a mother to three wonderful children who are thriving, along with a supportive father and ex-husband by her side. From Abby’s perspective, this strong family network means Kelly does not require additional support from her. Despite this stance, Abby has made it clear that she has no intentions of reaching out to the Hyland family.
Having triumphed over cancer in 2019, Abby reflects on her experience, noting that Kelly and her family never extended any support during her challenging fight. Nevertheless, Abby maintains a positive attitude and genuinely wishes Kelly well in her journey.
It’s worth mentioning that Kelly, along with her daughters, Brooke and Paige, left ‘Dance Moms’ in 2014 following a highly publicized physical confrontation with Abby. Since that incident, there has been a notable lack of public interaction between them, aside from the legal disputes that ensued shortly after their departure from the show.

In a notable twist, Kelly has filed lawsuits against Abby twice: first over a physical altercation that occurred during the filming of the show, and secondly for allegedly causing emotional distress to her daughter. These legal disputes were eventually settled, with Collins Entertainment agreeing to compensate Kelly with $17,500 for damages to her home that she claimed were incurred during production.
