Netflix has officially granted a straight-to-series order to Rabbit, Rabbit, a hostage crime drama which will be led by Academy Award nominee Adam Driver. This marks the Star Wars vet’s first major scripted series since starring in the hit HBO show Girls, which concluded its six-season run in 2017.
What do we know about Adam Driver’s Rabbit, Rabbit show?
“It is a contemporary series set at a truck stop in Southern Illinois. When an escaped convict is cornered by law enforcement at a truck stop, he takes hostages in an effort to bargain for his freedom,” reads the show’s initial synopsis, according to Deadline. “But the standoff soon escalates into an unmanageable social experiment with his captives, as well as an emotional poker match with a veteran FBI Crisis Negotiator trained in ‘tactical empathy.’”
Rabbit, Rabbit will be directed by Adolescence’s Philip Barantini from a screenplay written by Top Gun: Maverick scribe Peter Craig. In addition to leading the project, Driver has also signed on as an executive producer alongside Craig and Bryan Unkeless for Night Owl and Barantini and Samantha Beddoe for It’s All Made Up Productions. Filming is expected to take place early next year.
Driver will next be seen in Mubi‘s upcoming comedy-drama anthology movie Father Mother Sister Brother, which will arrive in theaters on December 24, 2025. He is also set to reunite with Marriage Story co-star Scarlett Johansson in James Gray‘s upcoming crime drama movie Paper Tiger. The acclaimed actor will also star opposite Chris Rock in the Misty Green movie, which Rock is also currently directing.
