The iconic rock band Alice in Chains made the difficult decision to cancel their highly anticipated tour kickoff on Thursday evening, just moments before they were set to take the stage. This unexpected cancellation was prompted by drummer Sean Kinney, who experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. The band was scheduled to perform at the renowned Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut, and the news of the cancellation was shared via a heartfelt statement on their social media platforms, as seen below.
In their statement, the band expressed their regret: “After our soundcheck this evening at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency. We unfortunately have to cancel tonight’s show. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. Refunds are available at the point of purchase.” This unfortunate news has disappointed many fans eagerly awaiting the performance.

On their upcoming headlining dates, Alice in Chains will feature Chained Saint, a talented group of teenage metallurgists. Their debut album, Blindside, was produced by none other than William DuVall of AIC. In a recent conversation on Loudwire Nights, DuVall expressed his excitement for working with this young band, highlighting their unique musical prowess.
DuVall praised Chained Saint, saying, “These guys have a sense of what makes a song move. And they’re still developing, obviously, and we made changes and we did all of that stuff, but just the raw thing they were doing on their own in their rehearsal room or in the garage or whatever was just like, man, this is a wisdom beyond their years. These kids are all in high school, rocking at this level. It was enough to get me down there.” His enthusiasm for the band’s talent showcases the vibrant future of the rock genre.
