Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer‘s marriage has come to an end.
The Trainwreck star and the chef, who share a 6-year-old son named Gene, separated seven years after tying the knot.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage,” Amy announced in an Instagram statement on December 12. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son.”
Alongside a photo of herself and Chris, 45, riding the subway together, the 44-year-old addressed speculation about their split.
“Not because I dropped some lbs and thought I could bag a basket,” she joked, “and not because he’s a hot James Beard award-winning chef who can still attract attention.”
Amy emphasized, “Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”
She expressed similar feelings earlier in December when she hinted that her relationship with Chris was struggling. At that time, Amy stated that “whatever ends up happening” had “nothing to do” with her recent weight loss or his autism diagnosis.
