The docuseries will tell the inspiring story of Andre’s life both on and off the court. It will be directed by Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Chris Smith and his Library Films shingle and executive produced by Stacy Smith and Justin Gimelstob.
Andre was ranked as the world No. 1 in men’s singles by the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) for a total of 101 weeks, including finishing as the year-end No. 1 in 1999. Over the course of his career, he won 60 ATP Tour level singles titles, including eight Grand Slam championships, and completed the rare Career Grand Slam.
Beyond the trophies, Andre has long been open about the personal struggles that shaped his journey. In Open, he famously admitted to using crystal meth in the late 1990s and talked about his first marriage to actress Brooke Shields, and later married former tennis star Steffi Graf (they share two children, son Jaden and daughter Jaz).
Andre is also developing a scripted series Rally about an elite tennis academy at Amazon with Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries) attached to serve as showrunner.
Stay tuned for the premiere date of Andre’s docuseries!
