A Batman: Arkham fan has noticed a funny similarity between one of the game’s most devastating combo moves and the iconic scene of Princess Fiona in the original Shrek. Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham series is still hailed by many as some of the best superhero games around, and a few funny memes are often shared among its fanbase.
Reddit user Xinck_UX may have just created another one on r/BatmanArkham, with a humorous GIF comparing Batman: Arkham‘s stun combo to a scene where Fiona is fending off Robin Hood’s gang in the first Shrek movie. More specifically, Fiona is shown unleashing a flurry of punches on a helpless minion, with the button input for Batman’s combo overlaid.
Shrek Might Have Predicted Batman: Arkham’s Combat
Fiona Would Handle Herself Well In Gotham
The combo move in question was introduced in 2011’s Batman: Arkham City, where it quickly became a fan-favorite due to how Batman is able to beat down his enemies with impressively fast punches. If the combo remains unbroken, players can even knock out the criminal on the receiving end completely, and it is the only way to damage armored enemies.
The first Shrek movie was released about a decade before Batman: Arkham City, but the entire Fiona fight scene could easily be compared to Batman: Arkham‘s free-flowing combat due to how fluidly the princess takes down her attackers. Shrek is a parody of classic fairy tales, and Fiona was meant to be a subversion of the “damsel in distress” trope.
Batman: Arkham Fans Await The Future
A New Game Has Been Confirmed
Aside from the disappointing performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the Batman: Arkham franchise remains very lucrative. Last year saw the release of Batman: Arkham Shadow, a VR sequel that quickly became regarded as one of the best games for the Meta Quest 3. A sequel game was recently confirmed by one of Batman: Arkham Shadow‘s voice actors.
As the gaming world waits for more news about the Batman: Arkham series, fans have been entertaining themselves with memes on Reddit and other social media platforms. Many of these memes are related to “Man,” a version of the Dark Knight completely stripped of his bat-themed iconography that first started making waves during the release of 2023’s The Flash movie.
Likewise, Shrek has plenty of memes to its name as fans eagerly await the release of Shrek 5 in 2026. Some modders have even added Shrek characters to games like Stardew Valley. Perhaps one of these gamers might bring Princess Fiona to the Batman: Arkham series to show the criminals of Gotham how things are handled in Far, Far Away.
