August 2025 New Music Releases You Can’t Miss

August 2025 is gearing up to be a spectacular month for rock music enthusiasts, showcasing a wealth of exciting new live album releases from legendary artists such as The Who, Jethro Tull, Roger Waters, Jerry Garcia, John Wetton, and UFO. Additionally, eagerly awaited box sets from iconic musicians like Van Halen, Elvis Presley, and Deep Purple will feature a treasure trove of unreleased rehearsals and live performances that fans won’t want to miss.

In terms of fresh studio recordings, John Fogerty has revitalized his most beloved tracks in the album Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years. This impressive 20-track compilation comes on the heels of a victorious legal battle over publishing rights, marking a significant moment in his career. Meanwhile, John Oates is set to release his latest album, simply titled Oates, which promises to recapture the “classic groove-oriented R&B and pop” vibe reminiscent of his work in the ’70s and ’80s. Additionally, The Black Keys are back with their 13th studio album, No Rain, No Flowers, following the success of their previous album, Ohio Players, released in 2024.

Fans of Deep Purple will be thrilled to learn that the band has not one but two major releases lined up this month. Their latest box set, Made in Japan, features newly crafted stereo and Dolby ATMOS mixes of the original album, masterfully remixed by Steven Wilson. Additionally, they have revisited and expanded their 2005 release, Rapture of the Deep, which marked the band’s fourth album since the transition from Ritchie Blackmore to Steve Morse and the second with Don Airey stepping in for Jon Lord.

Roger Waters is also making waves with the release of a new concert film and live album chronicling his extensive 2022-2023 world tour. Titled This Is Not a Drill: Live From Prague, the album captures the essence of a pivotal performance during his 99-show trek, featuring a mix of classic Pink Floyd hits and solo tracks that showcase his enduring artistry. Additionally, Van Halen has enriched the 1995 album Balance with contemporary soundtrack recordings, a B-side, and nine previously unreleased live tracks that will delight long-time fans.
