All versions of the album, both old and new, are combined for tracking and charting purposes.

In the tracking week ending Sept. 4, BADLANDS earned 17,000 equivalent album units in the United States, with nearly 12,000 from traditional album sales (approximately 9,000 from vinyl purchases).

BADLANDS is one of three albums reentering the top 10 on the Top Album Sales chart, alongside Sabrina Carpenter’s emails i can’t send (No. 6) and Charli xcx’s how i’m feeling now (No. 8). The only debut in this region is Carpenter’s Man’s Best Friend, which ranks No. 1.

Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart ranks the top-selling albums of the week based exclusively on traditional album sales. The chart has been in existence since May 25, 1991, when Billboard first began using electronically monitored piece count data from SoundScan, now known as Luminate. Pure album sales were the only metric used by the Billboard 200 albums chart until Dec. 6, 2014, after which it adopted a methodology that combines album sales with track equivalent album (TEA) units and streaming equivalent album (SEA) units.

Laufey’s A Matter of Time dropped from No. 2 to No. 7 in its second week (11,000 sold, down by 84%), Charli xcx’s how i’m feeling now reentered at No. 8 (9,500 sold, up by 2,613% after a fifth anniversary color vinyl variant was released), KATSEYE’s Beautiful Chaos surged from No. 20 to No. 9 (9,000 sold, up by 81% following a restock of certain editions), and Carpenter’s chart-topping Short n’ Sweet jumped from No. 30 to No. 10 (9,000 sold, up by 115% due to Man’s Best Friend‘s arrival).
