For players who wish to ensure Karlach’s survival, it will be a relief to know that they do not have to entirely forgo a romance with Lae’zel, but they must navigate these interactions with care. The simplest method to protect Karlach is to avoid leaving for the Astral Plane with Lae’zel altogether. Ending a romance with a separation, especially when it involves different planes of existence, can feel unsatisfying, so the ideal approach is to persuade Lae’zel to remain as an adventurer in Faer?n. This outcome also allows players to properly raise Xan alongside Lae’zel.
Another effective strategy is to participate in a campaign that includes multiple players. The scenario resulting in Karlach’s demise occurs due to the absence of an avatar to witness her suffering, but if one player opts to leave with Lae’zel, another can take their place and engage with Karlach during this critical moment.
