Harry Styles released his new album ‘Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally,’ and Billboard staff members gathered to discuss their reactions to Billboard’s rankings of the album, along with their personal opinions and rankings.
Kyle Denis:
Mr. Styles, you are my No. 1, man.
Meghan Mahar:
I placed it at No. 4. I found that quite disrespectful.
Jason Lipshutz:
There is a choir that shakes the listener awake. Harry’s lyrics about casual sex also awaken the listener to some extent.
Meghan Mahar:
Your mind is incredibly powerful.
Tetris Kelly:
Billboard’s staff is reacting to our ranking of Harry Styles’ new album ‘Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.’
Meghan Mahar:
I appreciate Harry’s writing when it feels more journalistic, like this, with specific references to places, and I think we can guess who it’s about. However, I believe there are many better songs that shine brighter on this album.
Jason Lipshutz:
I genuinely enjoy “Taste Back.” The synths are massive, and the hook is memorable. It evokes a sense of warmth and nostalgia. Some lines are effectively placed in the center of the album, right before a pivotal moment.
Kyle Denis:
I would rate this in the range of No. 10 to No. 8. While it’s not the worst song on the album, I enjoy how the restless beat conveys a sense of reconciliation. It raises questions about whether one can fully reconcile with someone or if it’s just a fleeting desire. I appreciate how his voice is subdued on this track, hinting at the apprehension in the lyrics. I don’t think this is in the top half of the album. At No. 11, we have “Are You Listening Yet?” This is where my ranking diverges most from the published list; it’s a top five song for me. I love it; it’s super impressive.
