The New York Reagan boys are reunited — at least two of them, in the new <em>Boston Blue</em> midseason trailer. In a couple of weeks, CBS will resume its 2025-2026 TV programming, which has been on hiatus since December. This means that all of the eye network’s most beloved scripted series are gearing up for the back half of their respective years, including Donnie Wahlberg and Sonequa Martin-Green’s procedural.

Not even a year after Blue Bloods ended, CBS set the Reagans return on the small screen with Danny’s new life in Boston. Motivated by Sean’s near-death experience to leave his comfortable life in New York behind, Wahlberg’s character found the Reagans’ Beantown counterpart with the Silvers. Despite the shift in character focus, the legendary police family from the Big Apple remains relevant in Boston Blue.

In preparation for its TV return, Boston Blue gets its midseason trailer, which features the first look at Len Cariou’s return as Henry Reagan. The beloved family patriarch is the second member of the famous New York clan to appear in the spinoff — the first one being Erin. The clip features him with Danny, asking the Silvers about a case update. Watch the video below:

For context, Boston Blue episode 10, “Hard Truths” will address the cliffhanger left on the show’s final 2025 episode. In it, the mystery about whether Jonah killed Ronan Flaherty was introduced and it’s something that the follow-up outing will likely answer. How Henry ends up traveling up north is currently unclear. It’s possible that his visit just so happens to coincide with a particularly tricky case, or it’s also possible that he found out about it and decided to make the trip.

Regardless, considering his wisdom and knowledge, both from his personal and professional experiences, Henry’s presence can be helpful to Danny and the Silver family as they crack the case and help Jonah’s predicament. Hopefully, however, his visit can include some fun downtime with Danny and Sean after Boston Blue episode 10’s case gets resolved. Maybe his appearance can also offer updates on how the rest of the family is doing.

For what it’s worth, Boston Blue is already renewed for season 2. Powered by the enduring popularity of Blue Bloods and a compelling new cast, the spinoff is among the most-watched freshman series across network TV. Given that, it has enough time to bring back Henry for a second time and also debut other members of the Reagan family.

Boston Blue resumes its season 1 run on February 27 on CBS.
