This captivating book is penned by Stella Aykroyd, the daughter of Dan Aykroyd, and Luke Pisano, the son of John Belushi’s wife, Judy Belushi Pisano, with editorial guidance provided by the elder Aykroyd.
As the original film concluded, Aykroyd’s character, Elwood Blues, and Belushi’s Jake Blues had navigated a chaotic manhunt and outrageous car chases to save their childhood orphanage, resulting in their imprisonment. Based on the new book’s synopsis, Jake ultimately discovers a way to escape:
Set in 1997, nearly two decades post the original The Blues Brothers film, Chicago law enforcement is once again hot on the trail of the infamous musical outlaw, Jake Blues, following a mysterious jailbreak. Enter Robert, an ambitious detective whose life takes an unexpected turn. During his investigation, he receives unexpected assistance from Elwood Blues, leading to an unlikely alliance with Wolfie, an orphan from the Blues Brothers’ alma mater, St. Helen’s of the Blessed Shroud. Together, they uncover a series of enigmas linked to the adventures of Jake and Elwood that have never been revealed before! Dive back into the exhilarating world of recidivist antics, soulful music, and explosive chases. Experience an exciting new chapter in the Blues Brothers saga.
“It makes complete sense to me that the new generation of Blues Brothers will begin in comic book form, where the possibilities for destroying police cars are infinite, physics have no bounds, and the potential for jam partners is off the charts,” co-writer James Werner shared in a press release. “The Blues Brothers universe is packed with music and absurdity.”
