Bon Appétit, Your Majesty: Netflix’s New K-Drama Sensation

There’s a brand-new K-drama series on Netflix that is currently surging up the streamer’s Top 10 viewership charts, continuing a surprising trend. Netflix has been the home to several outstanding K-drama series, with Squid Game being the most notable of them, and continues to deliver exceptional content in that area.

Many original K-dramas on the streaming platform, including Trigger, Copycat Killer, and Mercy For None, are some of the most underrated original series on Netflix. This week, another celebrated K-drama series is on the rise at Netflix, currently ranking as the eighth most popular series in the U.S.

Key Highlights: Bon Appétit, Your Majesty

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is currently rising in what’s trending on Netflix and has become one of the streamer’s biggest K-drama hits of August 2025. The series stars Korean actress, model, and singer Im Yoon-ah, who plays the French chef, Yeon Ji Yeong. After winning a cooking competition, she travels back in time to the Joseon Dynasty, where she must win over a king with a very particular palate.

Viewers have already noticed the similarities between Bon Appétit, Your Majesty and another K-drama series that was also a recent hit on the streamer called Tastefully Yours. In the same vein, viewers also drew comparisons between Bon Appétit, Your Majesty and Mr. Queen, as they share a near-identical time-traveling chef-inspired premise.

Because of its unique combination of fantasy, history, and romance genres, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty is somewhat similar to celebrated TV shows like Outlander. The series has an unconventional release strategy, with new episodes being released on Netflix every Friday and Saturday until the finale airs at the end of September.

Although Bon Appétit, Your Majesty may not be as phenomenal as the 2025 K-drama masterpiece When Life Gives You Tangerines, it’s still a highly entertaining show that fans of the historical fantasy genre will certainly enjoy.

There are currently two episodes of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty available to stream on Netflix now, both of which are one hour and twenty minutes long. The K-drama hasn’t received a Rotten Tomatoes score, but it has already earned a solid 7.7 user rating on IMDb.

There is such great attention to detail in the culinary aspects of the series that it may even appeal to fans of cooking competition shows and critically acclaimed series like The Bear. If any of this sounds appealing to you, then go check out the first two episodes of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty on Netflix before the third and fourth episodes come out this weekend.
