Kelly Clarkson Announces Postponement of Las Vegas Shows Following Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock’s Illness
Friends and family are deeply grieving the tragic passing of Brandon Blackstock.
The renowned talent manager, who was married to Kelly Clarkson for nearly a decade before they divorced in 2022, has sadly died after a prolonged struggle with cancer, as confirmed by his representative in a statement to NBC News. He was just 48 years old.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away,” the statement released on August 7 reported. “Brandon showed incredible courage throughout his more than three-year battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.”
Brandon’s representative added, “We sincerely appreciate the thoughts and prayers from everyone and request that the family’s privacy be respected during this incredibly challenging time.”
Just a day prior, Kelly—who shares two children, River Rose, aged 11, and Remington “Remy” Alexander, aged 8, with Brandon—revealed that he had been unwell, which led her to cancel her remaining shows in Las Vegas.
“Regrettably, I must postpone the remaining dates for the August Studio Session in Las Vegas,” the American Idol alum expressed on Instagram on August 6. “While I typically keep my personal life private, this past year has been particularly hard as my children’s father has been ill, and I now need to be fully present for them during this time.”
