Britney Spears is speaking out against her ex-husband Kevin Federline.
Over the past few days, excerpts from the 47-year-old former back-up dancer’s forthcoming memoir You Thought You Knew have surfaced. In his new book, Kevin claims that the 43-year-old “Gimme More” singer stood silently in their sons’ room at night with a knife in her hand and also alleged that she cheated on him with another woman.
If you didn’t know, Britney and Kevin got married in 2004 before finalizing their divorce in 2007. They share sons Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19.
Ahead of the release of the memoir, Britney took to social media to criticize Kevin for “gaslighting” and “hurting” her with a book full of “white lies.”
Keep reading to find out more… “The constant gaslighting from my ex-husband is extremely hurtful and exhausting. I have always pleaded and screamed to have a life with my boys,” Britney wrote on Instagram. “Relationships with teenage boys are complex. I have felt demoralized by this situation and have always asked and almost begged for them to be a part of my life.”
“Sadly, they have always witnessed the lack of respect shown by their own father for me,” she continued. “They need to take responsibility for themselves. With one son only seeing me for 45 minutes in the past 5 years and the other with only 4 visits in the past 5 years, I have pride too. From now on I will let them know when I am available.
Britney added, “Trust me, those white lies in that book are going straight to the bank and I am the only one who genuinely gets hurt here. I will always love them and if you really know me, you won’t pay attention to the tabloids about my mental health and drinking. I am actually a pretty intelligent woman who has been trying to live a sacred and private life these past 5 years. I speak on this because I have had enough and any real woman would do the same.”
You Thought You Knew is set to be released on October 21. Find out how Sam Asghari, who was married to Britney from 2002 to 2024, reacted to Kevin‘s book.
