Cam Schlittler just received significant praise from David Ortiz, who labeled the Yankees rookie as an “ace” following his remarkable performance on Thursday night.
Just hours after the New York pitcher completed eight innings of shutout baseball in a crucial win over the Red Sox, Ortiz showered him with compliments.
Cam Schlittler threw 107 pitches tonight
96 were some type of fastball (FF, SI, FC)
61 of them were in the strike zone
64 of them were 98+ MPH
11 of them were 100+MPH
Dared the Red Sox to hit him and they couldn’t do it. That’s a grown man start.

Big Papi, who had just arrived at LAX, mentioned that he has seen enough from the flamethrower to consider him a front-of-the-rotation pitcher.
“He’s got it, bro,” Ortiz stated. “He’s got it. He’s got it.”

“He was dominating us last night.”
Schlittler concluded the 4-0 victory with 12 strikeouts and no walks, along with a bit of trash talk.
While Ortiz was disappointed with the result, he expressed optimism about the Red Sox’s future.

He mentioned that they just need to “add some thunder” in free agency and expects to be back in contention in 2026.
“We are not far away from where we need to be, to be honest with you,” he said.
The Yankees’ next challenge is a series against the Blue Jays. As for Ortiz, he has some hard work ahead as he prepares to join New York legends Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter for Fox’s playoff coverage.
