Candace Cameron Bure Reveals Secrets About Sex and Marriage

During the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing created a growing divide between Cameron and Val, her husband and former NHL right winger, whom she married in 1996.

“Things were deteriorating rapidly,” shared the mother of Natasha, Lev, and Maksim in a July 2025 episode of her podcast. “I was thinking, ‘I don’t know if we’re going to get through this.'”

However, an unexpected bible study turned out to be their saving grace. “Lev approached us and said, ‘We’d like to have a conversation,'” Candace recalled about her second child. “Lev delivered a 45-minute sermon on marriage. He had his bible open on the couch and spoke to us about it.”

She attributes his reminder that they could overcome challenges as a key factor in saving their marriage. “He was such a calm voice filled with wisdom,” the Fuller House star noted. “He looked us in the eye and asked both me and Val, ‘Have you done everything you can?’ After that, Val and I realized, ‘We raised pretty good kids.'”

A “pivotal moment” in their relationship, she added, “Things really shifted for us after that conversation. It’s a completely different situation when your kids ask you if you are being as mature as possible.”
