Renowned musician Carlos Santana has unfortunately had to cancel another concert following a distressing incident during a soundcheck on Tuesday in San Antonio. His manager, Michael Vrionis, confirmed the cancellation of the evening performance at the Smart Financial Center in Sugar Land, Texas. However, he assured the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Santana is expected to continue his much-anticipated 2025 tour.
Local fire officials reported that the 77-year-old rock legend was hospitalized due to “a non-life-threatening condition” prior to his scheduled performance at the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio. Manager Vrionis later clarified that Santana had been experiencing symptoms of dehydration, which necessitated medical attention.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, Vrionis expressed his deep disappointment, stating, “It is with profound disappointment that I have to inform you all that tonight’s show in San Antonio has been postponed. Mr. Santana was at the venue preparing for tonight’s show when he experienced an event that was determined to be dehydration. Out of an abundance of caution and for Mr. Santana’s health, the decision to postpone the show was the most prudent course of action. He is doing well and is looking forward to returning to San Antonio soon, as well as continuing his U.S. tour.”

According to the Mercury News, Santana is “feeling much better” after a brief stay in a San Antonio hospital. His next scheduled performance is set for Friday at Lucas Oil Live at WinStar in Thackerville, Oklahoma.
The artist is currently on tour promoting a new retrospective album titled Sentient, which was released in March. This album features a blend of classic material along with three previously unreleased tracks. Notable collaborators on this project include the legendary Smokey Robinson, the late Miles Davis, Darryl "DMC" McDaniels, and the iconic Michael Jackson. It’s worth noting that Santana’s last album featuring entirely new songs was 2021’s Blessings and Miracles.
This recent incident is not the first time Santana has faced health challenges related to dehydration. A concert in Detroit in July 2022 was abruptly stopped when he collapsed on stage. Following that event, Santana postponed several shows before returning to touring. Additionally, he had to delay the start of a new residency in Las Vegas after experiencing a fall at home.
