Chicago Fire Season 14 Episode 2 Promo Unveils Dangerous Mystery

October kicked off with a bang on NBC, as One Chicago Wednesdays returned in explosive fashion. After each show’s respective previous season had finished on a relatively pleasant note, the new seasons began by resetting the dial to chaos. This most notably happened with Chicago Fire, as the Season 14 premiere saw Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) dealt the difficult blow of losing their pregnancy, something that would quickly cause tension between the couple.

Luckily, the premiere episode ended on a potential high note, as a solution to their problems looks possible. After they had shown an interest in fostering back in the previous season, the two are granted the opportunity to meet a “great kid” who is facing homelessness. After a promising look at each other, the episode ends and doesn’t offer a resolution — quite the cliffhanger for next week, with fans desperate for answers as soon as possible. Thankfully, these answers have already been teased in the Season 14, Episode 2, “Primary Search,” promo available to view below.

What Is ‘Chicago Fire’ Season 14, Episode 2, About?

“Vasquez fights to prove himself at 51; Violet and Novak pursue a troubling mystery; Herrmann is on a quest to keep Molly’s profitable,” the synopsis for the episode reads, promising to deliver more of the same from Firehouse 51 newcomer, Sal Vasquez (Brandon Larracuente). “Sal is good at his job and he knows it,” Larracuente previously said of his character, adding, “He wants to be the best he can be at his job and to protect those around him while he’s doing it.” However, this is no easy task in a group packed with personal drama, with Sal having to face the chaos of the job alongside the interpersonal challenges that come with it.

What lies next for Stellaride? Well, guilt looks set to hit Kidd, that is, according to showrunner Andrea Newman, who said in an interview, “So when the pregnancy didn’t last very long, there’s guilt on her part. There’s guilt because she wasn’t sure it was something she wanted, even though he wanted it so badly.” She continued, “It felt like that was a really interesting element to explore in their relationship. They’ve been through a lot together. This shifts things around, and very quickly. Now they’re headed into a kind of different paradigm of family than they thought they were going to be.”

Chicago Fire continues Wednesdays on NBC. Stay tuned to Collider for more updates.
