The star of ‘Love Island USA,’ Cierra Ortega, has finally opened up following her viral exit from season seven. Reports from The Shade Room indicate that producers made the difficult decision to ask the controversial contestant to leave the villa after old social media posts resurfaced, revealing her use of a racial slur directed at the Asian community. In light of these events, Cierra is taking full responsibility for her past actions and sharing her authentic feelings about the situation with her fans.

Cierra Ortega Takes Full Responsibility for Past Actions After Controversial Exit from ‘Love Island USA’
In a heartfelt video shared by The Shade Room, Cierra Ortega appears in what seems to be her bedroom shortly after her departure from the ‘Love Island USA’ villa. She expressed her shock, stating that she was unaware of her previous use of a racial slur in her past social media posts. Cierra directly addressed the Asian community, emphasizing that she takes full accountability for her actions and clarified that she does not view herself as a victim in this scenario.
“I am deeply, truly, honestly… so sorry. I had no idea that the word held as much pain and harm and came with the history that it did, or I never would’ve used it. I had no ill intention when I was using it, but that’s absolutely no excuse, because intent doesn’t excuse ignorance. I take accountability for using the word. I genuinely had no idea that it was a slur and no idea of its meaning,” Cierra stated in the emotional video.
Cierra Shares Her Thoughts on Being Removed from the Villa and Her Family’s Experience with Backlash
During her discussion of the situation, Cierra Ortega was candid and acknowledged that she fully supports the decision to be removed from the show. She stated, “I completely agree with the network’s decision to remove me from the villa. I think this is something that deserves punishment. The punishment has absolutely been received for sure.”
She expressed her awareness of the scrutiny and criticism she has faced due to the language she used in her past posts. “I think the backlash has been hard to deal with, but I understand that people are kind of confused about why I would’ve even said or why I would’ve been doubling down on continuing to use it. So, I understand where the hate is coming from,” she explained.
While Cierra took responsibility for her actions, she expressed discomfort regarding the negativity directed towards her family. She shared that it has been challenging to see them feeling threatened, even having to face issues such as ICE being called on them due to the situation. “There’s no need to fight hate with hate. I don’t think that’s justice. And if you want to know that you are heard and that I’m sorry… and that I will move differently, I promise you that’s what will happen,” she concluded.
Details of Cierra’s Previous Social Media Posts That Sparked Controversy
As previously reported by The Shade Room, Cierra’s exit from ‘Love Island’ was prompted by the resurfacing of old posts dating back to 2015. One image showed her enjoying an outdoor adventure with the caption, “Still chinkin’ even at the top.”
In another selfie, she made comments about her thoughts on Botox. Although she appreciated her appearance, she noted that her face could appear “ch**ky” at times. “I can also be a little chinky when I laugh/smile, so I love getting a mini brow lift to open up my eyes and get that snatched look,” she wrote back then.
Once these 2015 posts circulated online, the public quickly called for her removal from the show, leading to the creation of a Change.org petition emphasizing the issue, titled “Send Cierra Home #StopAsianHate.”
