Clair Obscur DLC Bosses Cater to Hardcore Fans Only

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is one of the biggest indie successes in modern gaming, starting from humble beginnings and going on to win the highly esteemed GOTY award at The Game Awards 2025. To celebrate this victory, they’ve released the official “Thank You” content update, introducing a new playable area called Verso’s Drafts and new powerful bosses in the infamous Endless Tower.

However, players who haven’t picked up Clair Obscur for a while are in for a rude awakening, with the new bosses posing the most difficult challenges yet. While hardcore players will absolutely appreciate these new bosses and the difficulty level, less-skilled players are going to have their work cut out for them, even on the game’s easiest Story Mode.

New DLC Bosses in Clair Obscur Are the Toughest Yet

Prepare for a Series of Tough Fights

The new Verso’s Drafts “Thank You” update DLC for Clair Obscur features brand-new endgame bosses that are undeniably the most challenging encounters yet. Experienced players will likely appreciate this challenge, while newcomers and Story Mode players might want to avoid the Endless Tower DLC bosses for now.

With over 300 hours in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, I returned after a brief hiatus, booting up my NG+3 save file to explore the new Verso’s Drafts region. The area is beautiful, whimsical, and is essentially a mini version of the base game, complete with new Gestral challenges, secret puzzles, a new side quest, and a plethora of new weapons, Pictos, outfits, and haircuts.

Players can expect several new Chromatic Nevron enemies throughout Verso’s Drafts, including Licornapieds and Chromatic Barbasucette. The loot and rewards from this region are crucial if you want to confront the area boss Osquio and the new Endless Tower bosses later on; thus, it is highly recommended to complete Verso’s Drafts before facing the new Endless Tower bosses.

All New DLC Bosses & Strategies to Defeat Them

New Bosses Include Osquio, Simon The Divergent Star, Duollistes, & Clea Unleashed

The DLC update includes five main new bosses that present significant challenges; while they are all tough to defeat, some are definitely more difficult than others. These bosses consist of Osquio, the main area boss in Verso’s Drafts, along with four new Endless Tower bosses: Chromatic Lampmaster, Duollistes, Clea Unleashed, and Simon the Divergent Star.

All Endless Tower bosses are variants of base-game bosses but feature enhanced attacks, trickier timing for parry and dodge sequences, and multiple phases. Below is a breakdown of what to expect from each one along with a few tips on how to defeat them.

Osquio: It’s The End Of The World As We Know It

Clair obscur Osquio

Osquio is the challenging new area boss in Verso’s Drafts. Although he is much tougher than many base game bosses, he is slightly easier than most other DLC bosses once you master his main move-set timing. Osquio is a two-phase boss with a series of quick attacks and also incorporates Barbapapa attacks in his second phase, which is a new DLC status effect.

Once you deplete Osquio’s first health bar, he will turn things around (literally) and enter his second “red” phase. He retains many of the same moves but with altered timing and introduces brand-new attacks such as his “Pew Pew Pew” belt cannon attack. The key to winning this fight is perfectly deflecting Osquio’s final move with a gradient block; otherwise, you’re dead and will have to start over.

Chromatic Lampmaster: Kill The Lights

You won’t find anything too surprising in the new Chromatic Lampmaster fight if you’ve played through the game many times already since its core move-set closely resembles that of other Lampmaster enemies from the base game. The key here is to eliminate the Lampmaster’s lights using your Free Aim Shots in the same sequence that they light up before each turn.

The Chromatic Lampmaster is quite evasive, so a Verso Machine Gun build along with other Free Aim-based builds are highly recommended, especially with the new Trigger Happy Pictos available in the DLC obtained from popping Gestral’s balloons at Gestral Resort in Verso’s Drafts. Additionally, it will revive multiple times during battle, so be prepared for an extended fight.

Duollistes: Double The Trouble

Clair obscur Duollistes

Duollistes (and later The Duolliste) are formidable bosses featuring several multi-attack moves where some attacks can have as many as 17 hits that you must either dodge or parry. Duollistes starts off as two Dualliste enemies sharing one health bar (similar to Painted Love). The first phase can technically be one-shotted with an optimal setup like a Maelle Stendahl build, although there are numerous viable strategies to defeat Duollistes.

Upon finishing the first phase, the two enemies merge into The Duolliste, incorporating more challenging versions of similar multi-hit moves from Phase One. However, during Phase Two, Duolliste will always attack immediately after each character’s turn, bypassing effects like Cheater, which trigger two turns in succession.

Clea Unleashed: Time For A Solo

You cannot challenge Clea Unleashed in the Endless Tower until you have already defeated her in Flying Manor. Beyond that point, Clea Unleashed serves as a massive knowledge-check boss incorporating attacks from various Chromatic Nevron bosses throughout the game. Learning or remembering all these attacks can be quite challenging—especially if you’ve taken some time away from gameplay.

Clea has a unique move that summons a Nevron which consumes one player character from combat. Thus it’s advisable to face her solo rather than in a full party setting. Clea Unleashed possesses an enormous health pool and exceptionally high defense requiring an OP build to conquer her effectively.

Simon The Divergent Star: Simon Says Nope

Similar to Clea Unleashed, defeating normal Simon in The Abyss is necessary before you can take on Simon the Divergent Star in the Endless Tower. As expected, Simon the Divergent Star proves incredibly brutal with even more follow-up slashes per hit that are now randomized and more challenging to parry—alongside an absurdly high health pool. Realistically speaking,You cannot afford to miss any parry or dodge, or you risk being one-shotted if you do.

This makes Simon the Divergent Star an exemplary case of just how extreme the challenges posed by Clair Obscur: Expedition 33‘s DLC bosses can be. Most players may not even attempt to defeat him unless they discover a new build capable of one-shotting him—though given his massive health pool this seems highly unlikely. Taking down Simon requires sheer dedication and impeccable timing.
