Many classic films — including 2002’s Spider-Man, Christopher Nolan’s Following, and 1939’s The Wizard of Oz — will be rereleased in Regal movie theaters this January.
Regal has announced a new Back to the Beginning movie program launching in January 2026. This program features a “curated film series showcasing origin stories and famous firsts throughout the 31 days of January to celebrate fresh starts.”
Brooks LeBoeuf, Senior Vice President of US Content at Regal, stated, “Repertory films in the Back to the Beginning program introduce iconic characters from popular movie franchises and represent the early creative vision of internationally acclaimed filmmakers. From action flicks to heroic tales to fantasy epics to gritty crime dramas, the Beginning series brings once unknown adventures and unfamiliar creators back to the big screen.”

The program’s first week is titled “Heroes Assemble.” It includes 2014’s John Wick on January 1, 2002’s Spider-Man on January 2, 2005’s Batman Begins on January 3, 1978’s Superman on January 4, 1984’s Ghostbusters on January 5, 1996’s Mission: Impossible on January 6, and 1982’s Conan the Barbarian on January 7.
The second week, titled “There and Back Again,” features 2016’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on January 8, 2012’s The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on January 9, 2013’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on January 10, 2014’s The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies on January 11, 1939’s The Wizard of Oz on January 12, 2017’s King Arthur: Legend of the Sword on January 13, and 1984’s Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom on January 14.
The third week is called “From the Director’s Chair – Day One.” It features 2005’s Brick on January 15, 1992’s Reservoir Dogs on January 16, 1998’s Following on January 17, 1974’s The Sugarland Express on January 18, 2017’s Get Out on January 19, 1985’s Pee Wee’s Big Adventure on January 20, and 2017’s Lady Bird on January 21.
The fourth week is titled “Words in Chaos,” which includes 2024’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga on January 22, 2000’s Gladiator on January 23, 2021’s Dune on January 24, 1999’s The Matrix on January 25, 2018’s A Quiet Place on January 26, and 2023’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes on January 27, followed by1982’sBlade Runner: The Final Cut b >on January28.
