As he expressed to Piers Morgan in a 2012 interview, “Somewhere, in the vault at NBC, there’s footage of me literally falling for my wife on camera.”
The late-night host also reminisced about how quickly he connected with Liza, who has since become a successful playwright.
“I immediately start talking to her, and then I’m not even trying to be funny,” Conan shared on The Michelle Obama Podcast in 2020. “I’m just trying to find out more about this woman.”
“Then I left the room after this 20-minute conversation with only her,” he continued. “We were breaking down the equipment and she walks out. We start talking some more, and then we end up talking in the lobby.”
And even though there’s footage of that memorable meet-cute, Liza previously joked that her husband has never gone back to rewatch it.
“He’s never watched it… he wants to remember it instead,” she said during a guest appearance on the Inside Conan podcast in 2022. “Which is sweet, but it’s like… are you afraid you’re gonna reconsider?”
