Cory Booker is experiencing a joyful marriage.
The Senator from New Jersey, who revealed his engagement to Alexis Lewis in September, tied the knot with the 38-year-old in two distinct wedding ceremonies, expressing on social media that he was “overflowing with gratitude.”
“We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us,” he shared in a joint post with Lewis on Instagram on Nov. 30. “First at the courthouse, then with our families. Hearts full and so grateful.”
The couple legally married on Nov. 24 in Newark, N.J., during a civil ceremony, with their parents serving as witnesses, according to the New York Times. Five days later, they celebrated a second service at an intimate venue in Washington, D.C., followed by a family-only reception.
Booker, 56, met his now-wife, an investments director, in May 2024 through a mutual friend, as reported by the outlet. After a successful first date in Washington, the politician persuaded her to delay her flight back to Newark for a second outing—a choice she couldn’t be happier about.
