To provide some context, while LaPlante was on the red carpet, a reporter from Stage Right Secrets mistakenly addressed her as Poppy. LaPlante, showcasing her professionalism and sense of humor, responded with a lighthearted remark: ?I am Poppy and I am really happy to be here nominated with Knocked Loose. I really hope we win.? She further embraced the mix-up by sharing more playful details about Poppy, even as Gojira ultimately took home the award for ?Mea Culpa (Ah! Ça ira).?

According to Metal Injection, LaPlante’s recent Instagram Live session featured her reflecting on the humorous blunder:

I was consciously thinking, ?Don’t say anything too crazy? since I don?t know Poppy or Knocked Loose well enough to go overboard on the subject. I worried about how they might perceive my comments?what if they felt I was mocking their hard-earned achievements? The reality is, I found the whole situation incredibly funny.

This moment reminded me of an interview with Charlie XCX where a reporter asked her about writing the Lorde song ‘Royals.’ Instead of reacting negatively, she spoke about her experiences writing ?Royals? and her teenage years in New Zealand. I drew inspiration from that approach, and I believe everyone walked away feeling positive. We managed to promote both Poppy and Knocked Loose, while I also managed to slip in some mentions of Spiritbox and myself, Courtney.

Just a couple of days following the Grammy Awards, Poppy contributed to the viral moment by launching a black t-shirt featuring a name tag that reads, ?Hello. I am Poppy.? On the same day, February 4, Spotify cleverly joined in on the fun by featuring LaPlante as the visual highlight of that week?s Kickass Metal playlist, playfully describing her as ?Poppy on top of today?s best Metal playlist.?

Interestingly, both Spiritbox and Poppy were included in that playlist, adding a layer of coherence to the joke.
