John Fogerty has revisited and re-recorded numerous iconic songs from his legendary band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, culminating in an exciting new album set to release on August 22. This highly anticipated collection is titled Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years and features a total of 20 tracks. In this album, Fogerty collaborates with his family band to maintain the essence and authenticity of the original songs’ sound, while also breathing new life into them. Below, you can find the complete track list along with his refreshed version of the classic hit “Have You Ever Seen the Rain.”
Following in the footsteps of several renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Fogerty has made the decision to re-record his music to regain control and ownership over his artistic creations. This strategic move comes on the heels of winning a protracted legal struggle regarding the publishing rights to his original recordings two years ago, allowing him to reclaim his legacy.

“Fogerty celebrates the timeless songs that have profoundly influenced rock music history – on his own terms,” stated a recent announcement. “For the first time in his career, he fully owns the rights to his music. This moment signifies both a celebration of his work and a reclamation of his artistic identity.
“With the newly recorded versions of his beloved hits, Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years captures the essence of his raw energy, revitalized with a renewed passion. Supported by his family band and buoyed by a surge of newfound recognition, Fogerty remains both fierce and full of joy. Legacy is not merely a tribute to one of the most remarkable catalogs in rock ’n’ roll history – it embodies the sound of an American original reclaiming his rightful place at the forefront of the music scene once again.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Fogerty shared, “[T]The first five or six people I’ve talked to who’ve listened to it all say it sounds ‘fresher.’ Perhaps what they mean is that it’s clearer, or the fidelity is improved in some way? That might be an aspect I hadn’t anticipated, but indeed there’s more dimension to it, more depth.”
He acknowledged that when the idea of re-recording his tracks was first proposed, he was reluctant to get involved. However, after experimenting with the concept, his perspective shifted. Consequently, the album diverges significantly from the original CCR songs he had previously recorded with his family. “Instead of venturing off into a completely different sound, like attempting a folk music version, the goal was to closely replicate the original vibe,” he explained.
The album is currently available for pre-order, offering fans a chance to secure their copy ahead of the official release date.
