Netflix subscribers can now finally watch Golden Globe nominee Rebecca Ferguson and Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan in the next chapter of the hit crime drama series, which ended its six-season run over three years ago. As of today, Cillian Murphy‘s Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man movie is officially available to stream on Netflix.
What do we know about Netflix’s Peaky Blinders movie?
Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man was directed by Tom Harper from a screenplay by original series creator Steven Knight. The World War II-set movie serves as a sequel to the multi-award-winning gangster saga. Besides Murphy, the cast also includes returning stars Sophie Rundle as Ada, Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg, Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs, and Ian Peck as Curly, with Keoghan playing Duke Shelby. The latter was first introduced during the final season and was first played by Conrad Khan. New characters are played by Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Jay Lycurgo. Following its world premiere, the film has received an approval rating of 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 57 reviews.
“Birmingham, 1940. Amidst the chaos of WWII, Tommy Shelby is driven back from a self-imposed exile to face his most destructive reckoning yet,” reads the movie’s synopsis. “With the future of the family and the country at stake, Tommy must face his own demons and choose whether to confront his legacy or burn it to the ground. By order of the Peaky Blinders…”
The movie was produced by Knight, Murphy, Patrick Holland, and Guy Heeley. Executive producers are Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Caryn Mandabach, and Andrew Warren. It is a production between Netflix and BBC Films. Last December 2023, it was reported that Netflix was developing two Peaky Blinders spin-offs, with the first one set to take place in the middle of the 20th century and the other one centered around the origins of Helen McCrory’s Polly Gray.
