The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 may still be in the very early stages of planning and development, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t reasons for you to be excited in 2026. There are, in fact, two brand-new Cyberpunk 2077 games coming this year, which should be more than enough to keep you busy.
Late last year, CD Projekt RED listed 29 new open positions specifically for work on Cyberpunk 2, with further confirmation that work on the sequel is hotting up. The Witcher 4 is, of course, the current focus, but that doesn’t mean there’ll be no new Cyberpunk 2077 to be had in 2026.
Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game Is Coming
It smashed its crowdfunded goals
About a year ago, a company called Go On Board ran a crowdfunding campaign for Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game. Unsurprisingly, it was very quickly able to raise over $10 million. Towards the end of 2025, it was confirmed the game will be ready to hit stores in 2026, which, if you’ve been paying attention, is this year.
While the game had originally been planned to launch in December 2025, there were some final touches that needed to be smoothed out. This is an official Cyberpunk 2077 board game created alongside CD Projekt RED, that lets players dive into Night City for various missions. You can play as V, Panam, Jackie, or Judy (plus some characters from Phantom Liberty) in a 1-4 player co-op format.
It looks pretty similar to other video game board game adaptations, but with that unique Night City twist. Confirmed expansions for the board game so far include:
- Silverhand & NCPD
- Edgerunners
- Trauma Team
- Phantom Liberty
Cyberpunk 2077: The Board Game is now aiming for Q2 2026, but that’s not all we’re getting this year.
Cyberpunk Trading Card Game Planned For 2026/2027
Back to Night City
If board games aren’t your thing, an official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is also coming this year. This physical-only trading card game is being developed by CD Projekt RED and WeirdCo, and will see players build the best crew to become legends in Night City. We can expect gorgeous custom artwork to entice collectors and serious players alike, but that’s pretty much all we know for sure about the game at this point.
Okay, that’s not all we know, here are the officially announced cards so far:
- Psycho Squad
- Offduty Malfini
- Swordwise Huscle
- Mantis Blades
- Kiroshi Optics
- Mandibular Upgrade
- Panam Palmer
- Jackie Welles
- Judy Alvarez
- Adam Smasher
The Kickstarter for the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game is currently being planned for an unspecified date in 2026, with the first physical packs being sent to players by the end of the year. However, there’s a chance this could end up being pushed back to 2027, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens there.
Like I said, it really does look like 2026 is a heck of a year to be a Cyberpunk 2077 fan. And given that CDPR keeps saying it’s done updating the game only to turn around and release another update, I wouldn’t be surprised if 2026 saw at least a little bit of new content for the current game. But don’t hold me to that.
