Dacre Montgomery on Leaving Hollywood in Stranger Things

Although it has been some time since the iconic Desperate Housewives star resided on the enchanting Wisteria Lane, she has since embraced a new chapter in her life with a fresh address in real life.

“I had my entire adult life here,” Eva expressed in an interview with Marie Claire in November 2024, reflecting on her departure from Los Angeles. “However, even prior to [the pandemic], I noticed changes. The overall vibe was shifting. Then the Covid pandemic struck, which really catalyzed the transformation. Whether it’s the rising homelessness crisis or the increasing taxes, and while I don’t wish to disparage California, it simply feels like this chapter of my life has come to a close.”

For the past few years, the talented actress, along with her husband José Bastón and their son Santiago, have been enjoying a lifestyle that balances their time between the vibrant cultures of Mexico and the picturesque landscapes of Spain.

“I’m incredibly privileged,” she added. “I have the opportunity to escape and find solace in another place. Unfortunately, most Americans aren’t as fortunate. They will find themselves stuck in this dystopian reality, and my heart aches for them.”

Nevertheless, Eva clarified that her relocation was not influenced by the re-election of President Trump.

“I didn’t leave due to the political climate,” the director of Flamin’ Hot stated during her appearance on The View: Behind the Table podcast in November 2024. “My journey began because my work led me there—after spending six months filming in Catalonia, followed by four months in Mexico for Searching for Mexico, and then back to Spain. I’ve been immersed in this experience for years now. I simply disapprove of how it has become a politicized issue.”
