Dan Palmer Celebrates New Music and Zebrahead’s DIY Spirit

As Zebrahead celebrates the exciting release of three dynamic new EPs over the past few years, guitarist Dan Palmer made an appearance on Loudwire Nights on Wednesday, November 13, to delve into the band?s evolving sound and their future plans. You can catch the entire conversation in the player located towards the conclusion of this article, offering fans a deeper insight into the band’s creative journey.

?We?re incredibly excited because we?ve been diligently crafting these songs for quite some time,? Palmer shared with host Chuck Armstrong regarding Zebrahead’s latest offering, EP I. ?This series could potentially be endless; the next EP might be titled .9, followed by .8, and we plan to keep this going as long as we can.? This playful approach to their music series showcases their innovative spirit and commitment to consistently engaging their audience.

When Zebrahead initially launched EP III, they had no intentions of producing two additional EPs. Nonetheless, Palmer emphasized that the band is perpetually immersed in the creative process. ?We just kept writing,? he explained, highlighting the ongoing flow of creativity. ?We didn?t compose everything all at once… All the tracks are somewhat interchangeable, but we?ve been continuously writing throughout this journey.? This reflects their dedication to their craft and their desire to evolve as artists.

In addition to their songwriting endeavors, Zebrahead has fully embraced a true DIY ethos, navigating the complexities of music production independently. While this approach can sometimes lead to challenges, Palmer made it clear that this is precisely how they prefer to operate. ?Sometimes it?s a bit of a hassle; you have to manage many more tasks compared to bands that work with labels and management teams,? Palmer noted, illustrating the realities of self-management in the music industry.

?But honestly, what else would I do?? he mused. ?I could lounge around and enjoy a few beers all day, which is fantastic, but truthfully, I?d rather focus on the band. I can balance both; I can work on the band and enjoy some beers simultaneously.? This candid admission showcases Palmer?s passion for his music, revealing the dedication that drives Zebrahead’s success.

As Chuck chuckled at Palmer’s light-hearted remarks, Palmer continued to passionately advocate for the DIY mentality that Zebrahead firmly believes in. ?If anyone?s going to mess this band up, it?s going to be us, alright? We can?t point fingers at anyone else.? This level of accountability highlights their commitment to their artistic vision and self-direction.
