Recently, ahead of a cookout, the 36-year-old informed her daughter that she would not be allowed to attend if her misbehavior continued. The following day, she overheard a troubling conversation between her and her other daughter, Tyler.
“Tyler looked at her and said, ‘Wow, you look really pretty in that outfit,’” she recalled. In response, her other daughter “turned to her, looked her up and down—I watched her—and said, ‘You look gross.’”
After witnessing Tyler burst into tears and retreat to her room, Kelly struggled to contain her anger.
“I’m like, ‘I have tried everything,’” she told her daughter at that moment. “’I have tried sitting near your room. I’ve tried taking things away. I have tried just talking to you like a young woman that you are. Nothing is working. I’m exhausted.’”
“And I told her, ‘It’s not fair to your sisters that all of my energy right now is going to you every day because you are acting up,’” she continued. “‘You are causing issues. I don’t know if it’s for attention. Tell me, do you need more from me? Is there something going on in your life that I’m not aware of?’”
