David Lee Roth Tour: Sammy Hagar Backs Fans’ Wishes

Sammy Hagar has made a commendable gesture towards David Lee Roth, inviting Van Halen enthusiasts to appreciate the distinct contributions both vocalists have made in their solo careers while paying homage to the legendary band. This olive branch comes at a time when fans are eager to see both artists honor Van Halen’s legacy through their individual endeavors.

Recently, Hagar commented on an Instagram video shared by Chris Celfo, which showcased performances by both singers at different venues on the same night. Notably, Roth marked his return to the stage at the M3 Rock Festival on May 3, delivering a set exclusively featuring iconic Van Halen tracks, his first performance since 2020. Meanwhile, Hagar is concluding his acclaimed Best of All Worlds residency in Las Vegas.

Sammy Hagar Expresses Enthusiasm for David Lee Roth’s Return to Performance

Despite Hagar’s past animosity towards Roth—having previously expressed a desire to “break the guy’s fuckin’ neck” during their tumultuous 2002 co-headlining tour—he has encouraged fans to rise above past disputes and focus on the incredible music they both contributed alongside the late Eddie Van Halen. Hagar emphasized that the essence of their legacy goes beyond mere comparisons and petty grievances.

“If I may share my thoughts: Comparing our performances today or reminiscing about our past really misses the point,” he stated. “What truly matters is Van Halen—one of the greatest rock bands in history with some of the most memorable songs ever created. Both of us played vital roles, contributing strengths and facing challenges. I’m genuinely pleased that Dave is out there performing, just as Mikey [Anthony] and I are, supporting the timeless rock anthems that fans love. Regardless of the ups and downs, the audience deserves this,” he added.

He further remarked: “I believe that both of us are giving our all, and I find joy in it. Dave is honoring his era, while I am committed to mine, along with my solo projects and side ventures for the rest of my career. Fans should embrace and celebrate what we are both striving to accomplish. Preserving the music [as] as part of our legacy is crucial, as is the music that both Dave and I created alongside Eddie. Here’s to encore performances; thank you all, and goodnight.”
