There?s a significant void in the world now that he?s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’”

In a poignant reflection, they added, “It?s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way,” showcasing Lynch’s optimistic spirit even in adversity.

Last year, Lynch revealed his diagnosis of emphysema, which unfortunately meant he would no longer be able to direct films or leave his house. This health challenge comes after a lifelong habit of smoking, a fact that was vividly depicted in the 2016 documentary David Lynch: The Art Life, where cigarettes were a constant presence throughout its 90-minute runtime.

Beyond his film career, Lynch was also a talented musician, having released several music albums. His most recent work, Cellophane Memories, released in 2024, was a collaboration with Twin Peaks actress Chrystabell, showcasing his versatility as an artist.

Lynch?s creative endeavors extended to directing music videos for renowned artists including Chris Isaak and Nine Inch Nails. Notably, Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor produced the haunting soundtrack for Lynch’s 1997 cult classic film Lost Highway. In 2011, Lynch collaborated with Marilyn Manson on the coffee table book Genealogies of Pain, blending their artistic visions and exploring darker themes.
