If you’ve been keeping up with the show, you probably had your jaw on the floor when Gwen told Sarah that she slept with Xander. But was it the truth? Here’s what Emily O’Brien, the actor who plays Gwen, had to say about it.

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, when O’Brien was asked what she thought about Gwen’s actions, she said, “I think any chance that she has, she wants to get under her skin because Sarah has been living under Gwen’s skin for years!”

The tussle between Gwen and Sarah is nothing new to the show. The fact that Sarah always had the upper hand with Xander infuriated Gwen, so she decided to resort to her old tricks. After returning to Salem, she took the opportunity to humiliate Sarah in a very personal way.

O’Brien continues, “She’s lost to her in the past, and Gwen’s come back to town thinking, ‘I look different, I’ve got money in my wallet, maybe this time, I’m gonna win Xander over! But deep down, she knows that she’s not going to.”

Despite the makeover and newfound confidence, it has been difficult for Gwen to win over Sarah. So, she lied, and Sarah believed. After that, things escalated quickly. Although Xander clarified that Gwen was lying, Sarah had a hard time believing him.

When Xander confronted Gwen, she brushed it off. She said that she was just trying to help their relationship by making Sarah jealous. O’Brien thinks what was once just a game is now turning into something more serious for Gwen. She is trying hard not to show her feelings and continues to play her “fun” little game with no remorse.
