Revelation of the first major DCU crossover movie may have emerged through a recent copyright trademark filing.
The DCU, under the direction of James Gunn and Peter Safran, officially commenced in December 2024 with the animated series Creature Commandos. This was succeeded by Gunn’s Superman movie, released in July 2025, and the conclusion of Peacemaker Season 2 on HBO Max earlier this month.
What could the DCU crossover movie be?
As reported by Knight Edge Media, DC Studios has recently registered a copyright trademark for Salvation Run. While this does not confirm the production of a Salvation Run crossover movie, it remains a possibility, particularly in light of the events at the end of Peacemaker Season 2.

Peacemaker Season 2 concluded with John Cena’s character Christopher Smith being abducted and forcefully transported to another planet known as Salvation, which Frank Grillo’s Rick Flag Sr. plans to utilize as a prison for metahumans.
In DC Comics, Salvation Run is a seven-issue miniseries created by writers Bill Willingham and Lilah Sturges, featuring artists Sean Chen, Walden Wong, Joe Bennett, and Belardino Brabo. It follows a similar narrative where some of the most infamous DC supervillains are exiled to planet Cygnus 4019 and must find new ways to survive.
Gunn and Safran evidently have intentions to further explore the Salvation storyline hinted at the end of Peacemaker Season 2; however, the copyright filing might simply be a precautionary measure by the studio. The storyline could also progress in other DCU films or television series like Man of Tomorrow without necessarily leading to a crossover film. Additionally, Knight Edge Media notes that the trademark filing pertains to the Bane/Deathstroke movie currently in development.
The overarching plan for the DCU is expected to become significantly clearer in 2026 with the release of the Lanterns HBO television show, Craig Gillespie’s Supergirl movie, and James Watkins’ Clayface film. As of now, there has been no official announcement from DC Studios or Warner Bros. Pictures regarding a Salvation Run crossover movie.
