‘Dead Dance’ by Lady Gaga Unveiled for ‘Wednesday’ Season 2

Lady Gaga Expands Her Creative Horizon with a New Song for Wednesday Season 2, Confirmed by Billboard.

Gaga is set to unveil a captivating new track titled “Dead Dance” next month, perfectly aligned with her anticipated guest appearance in the latest season of Wednesday, as initially reported by Variety. This exciting collaboration involves renowned producers Andrew Watt and Cirkut, both of whom previously collaborated with Gaga on her recent album Mayhem, promising a song that will resonate well with her fans.

Billboard has proactively reached out to representatives for Lady Gaga and Netflix to gather more insights and details about this upcoming musical venture.

In an exciting announcement made back in May, Netflix revealed that Lady Gaga would be making an appearance in season 2 of Wednesday, the wildly popular series featuring Jenna Ortega as the iconic Wednesday Addams. Gaga will portray the character of “the mysterious and enigmatic Rosaline Rotwood,” a legendary teacher at Nevermore Academy who has a significant impact on Wednesday’s journey. This announcement was made during the Tudum fan event held at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on May 31, generating buzz among fans.

During this memorable event, Gaga also captivated the audience with a striking performance that included a Wednesday-themed set. She made an entrance from a coffin, adorned with a lid that dramatically read “HERE LIES THE MONSTER QUEEN.” Within her performance, she showcased on-theme tracks from her album Mayhem, including “Zombieboy” and “Abracadabra.” A highlight of her mini-set was a dance performance featuring The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck,” which was inspired by the now-iconic viral dance sequence from the first season of Wednesday.

In 2022, the enthusiasm surrounding the Wednesday dance scene sparked a social media trend, with fans uploading videos of themselves replicating the dance on TikTok and various platforms. Many of Gaga’s devoted fans, affectionately known as Little Monsters, creatively swapped the original audio of “Goo Goo Muck” with a sped-up version of Gaga’s own “Bloody Mary.” This trend even caught the attention of Gaga herself, who embraced the idea. Her connection to the show not only continues through her upcoming acting role but also through the release of this new song.

According to Variety, an accompanying music video for “Dead Dance” is also slated for release in September. Last month, there were reports of Gaga being spotted alongside Wednesday director Tim Burton on the Island of the Dolls, located south of Mexico City; however, it remains unclear if this sighting is related to the new song or the upcoming video.

The eagerly awaited first episodes of Wednesday season 2 will be released on the platform, fittingly on a Wednesday, to Netflix subscribers. Following this, a second batch of episodes is scheduled to drop on September 3, which will likely feature Lady Gaga’s highly anticipated appearance.
