The legendary rock band Foreigner is set to celebrate their remarkable legacy by expanding their only U.S. chart-topping album as part of their 50th-anniversary festivities. The highly anticipated super-deluxe edition of the iconic 1981 album, 4, which has achieved six-times-platinum status, will be released as a comprehensive 5CD/Blu-ray package featuring newly remastered stereo as well as ATMOS versions that promise to enhance the listening experience.

Scheduled for release on September 12, this reissue will be available in several formats, including striking black vinyl. Music enthusiasts can look forward to five previously unreleased tracks, alongside 14 early and alternate versions of beloved songs, 15 instrumental tracks, and 15 live performances recorded during the band’s exhilarating 1981-82 world tour. The digital deluxe version will also feature alternate versions, instrumentals, and live performances that capture the essence of that vibrant era.

Accompanying the physical releases will be a beautifully crafted booklet containing over 60 exclusive photos, providing a visual journey through the band’s history. Foreigner’s fourth studio album was recorded at the renowned Electric Lady Studios in New York City under the guidance of producer Mutt Lange. The album spawned several hits, including “Urgent” and the chart-topping “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” both of which reached the Top 5. Additionally, “Juke Box Hero” became a Top 40 hit, contributing to Foreigner 4‘s impressive record of spending more weeks at the top of the Billboard charts than any other act associated with Atlantic Records.

“The process of recording our fourth album was a labor of love that took nearly two years,” shared Foreigner co-founder Mick Jones in an official statement. “It had to be perfect, and I genuinely believe that with the collaboration of Mutt Lange, Lou Gramm, Rick Wills, Dennis Elliott, and myself, we created something truly remarkable. This package, especially with the stunning Atmos mixes, represents a spectacular culmination of one of the most exhilarating periods of my life.”

The newly announced concert dates, branded as the Foreigner 4 Deluxe Tour, will feature multi-night performances in Port Chester, New York, and Montclair, New Jersey. These shows will mark the first performances following the departure of long-time vocalist Kelly Hansen from the lineup. The updated touring edition will include vocalist Luis Maldonado, bassist Jeff Pilson, keyboardist Michael Bluestein, guitarist Bruce Watson, and drummer Chris Frazier. Additionally, the legendary Lou Gramm will make guest appearances on select tracks.

“Earlier this year, we had an incredible tour through Mexico and South America with the amazing Lou Gramm,” said Maldonado. “The experience was outstanding, and I eagerly anticipate the opportunity to collaborate with Lou again. His contributions were pivotal in the writing and recording of the Foreigner 4 album, and his presence will undoubtedly bring a historic dimension to our upcoming tour.”
