Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Infinity Castle has finally entered Western theaters, and the scores are in. The anime feature had a very successful theatrical run in Japan since its release back in July. However, according to the latest scores on Rotten Tomatoes, this latest anime film is in a close race with its predecessor, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train.

As of writing, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle received a high critics’ score of 96% and an audience score of 99%. These are incredibly high ratings, especially since the last film, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – To the Hashira Training, released back in 2024, got an 88% critics score and a 79% audience score. However, when compared to the highest-grossing Demon Slayer film of all time, Demon Slayer: Infinity Train‘s critics’ score ranks two points lower, but shares the same audience score.

According to critics, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle was praised for its animation and visuals, voice cast, emotional storytelling, and how it jumps straight into the action. However, it was criticized for its “episodic structure” and repetitive storytelling. Meanwhile, fans also noted how the feature felt like the ending was dragged out but praised its animation and visuals, claiming that it was an excellent start for the franchise’s epic conclusion.

What is ‘Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’ About?

Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle adapts the first half of the Final Battle Arc, where the Demon Slayer Corps face Muzan’s Demon army in the Infinity Castle. In this film, three of the Twelve Kizuki face our Demon Slayer, revealing their backstory from when they were humans and why they agreed to become demons. Additionally, this film features the talents of Channing Tatum, who’s cast as Keizo in the English dub.

As of writing, Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle has generated $279 million at the global box office, and only time will tell if it’s going to surpass Mugen Train‘s box office gross of $486 million. Currently, the feature has surpassed many box office hits in its Japanese domestic run, including Spirited Away, Your Name, <em>Titanic</em>, Frozen, and Avatar. Meanwhile, it’s currently the 14th highest-grossing film of 2025, sitting between <em>Final Destination: Bloodlines</em> and Weapons.
