Meredith finally understands the significance of gifting all the members of the Stone family a framed black and white photo of Sybil taken during her pregnancy with Amy.
The image, although edited to portray Sybil as pregnant, was sourced from Keaton’s personal archive, captured when she was 27 by her mother Dorothy Deanne.
“That moved me more than anything in the movie,” Keaton shared with Girl.com.au, “because that picture represented my mother.”
She elaborated, “I had the strangest feeling when I looked at that picture—which I dislike—but I felt that, you know, that’s the best acting I’ve ever done in my entire life is that portrait my mother took. So, the entire theme of motherhood and the honor towards your mother resonated deeply for me in that moment, and I thought Tom Bezucha captured that beautifully about life continuing… It’s my favorite moment in any movie I’ve ever participated in, which is my mother’s photograph of me because she took it.”
