As the highly anticipated Fyre Festival 2 approaches, one artist has publicly shared her reasons for declining an invitation to perform at the event in an interview with ABC’s Good Morning America. This revelation adds to the ongoing skepticism surrounding the festival, especially given its troubled past and founder Billy McFarland‘s controversial attempts to organize another event amidst numerous doubts.
Despite McFarland’s assertions that Fyre Festival 2 is a legitimate endeavor, showcasing various permits he claims to have secured for the occasion, skepticism remains prevalent. Tourism officials in Isla Mujeres, the initially proposed location, denied having any knowledge or documentation regarding the festival’s organization, raising further questions about its feasibility.
On March 28, McFarland announced a new venue in Playa Del Carmen during a press conference hosted at the Martina Beach Club. However, the local communication department quickly refuted the claim, stating via social media, “There will be no event called ‘Fyre 2’ in Playa del Carmen. There is no record or planning. This government prioritizes order, security, and truth.” Following the city’s denial, McFarland released additional documentation to reassure fans that progress was indeed being made in securing the festival.
In light of these developments, one artist approached for the event has openly discussed her decision to turn down the opportunity, shedding light on her thought process.
DJ Discusses Decision to Decline Fyre Fest 2 Invitation on Good Morning America
In her report for ABC’s Good Morning America, Francesca Keller, known professionally as DJ Donna Francesca, shared her experience of being invited to perform at Fyre Festival 2. She was approached after gaining visibility for her performances at various clubs in the New York area.
“The Fyre Festival account reached out to me via direct message, inquiring if I would be interested in playing at their festival,” the DJ recounted. “They framed it as a series of beach clubs they intended to take over, so I had numerous questions for them. The organizer seemed taken aback by my inquiries, mentioning that none of the other artists had expressed any concerns.”
DJ Donna Francesca noted that while she recognized a few names linked to the event, she was not particularly familiar with any of them. This uncertainty contributed to her decision-making process.
“In my opinion, if the festival does indeed take place and manages to secure sufficient funding, it will likely end up being a rather mundane and uneventful experience for attendees,” she stated. “I doubt it will offer anything particularly engaging, which would ultimately make it a waste of my time.”

In earlier statements regarding the credibility of the upcoming event, he reiterated, “We will feature DJs, rappers, reggae artists, pop stars, and even athletes, divers, models, pilots, and creators who will curate unforgettable experiences for our guests. Fyre is all about creating intimate interactions. Expect dozens of artists in a private party atmosphere. The essence of Fyre Festival lies in the connections you form, the memories created, and the remarkable stories you will cherish forever.”
Recent permit documents revealed a crucial detail: the permits appear to authorize only a 250-person capacity for a multi-day listening party, significantly limiting the scale of the event.
This permit, granted on March 26, allows Fyre Fest 2 to utilize “musica grabada,” which translates to recorded music, indicating a more subdued atmosphere than originally anticipated.
Ticketing options for the event can be explored and purchased through the official Fyre Fest 2 website, offering various packages for interested attendees.
