Jon Ecker, the lead actor of Doc, has recently addressed a question that fans have wondered about for years: Is there a chance he might return to Chicago Fire? The actor shared his thoughts on the possibility of revisiting the acclaimed NBC series, leading fans to speculate about what might be next.
Here’s everything we know so far.
Jon Ecker says he’d ‘be stoked’ to return to Chicago Fire
Currently involved in the new series, Doc, Jon Ecker shared some fascinating updates. In a recent conversation with soapssheknow, he reflected on his early experiences with his previous show. He expressed that being part of Chicago Fire was an extraordinary experience. “What stands out was that you’re part of a production that’s like a well-oiled machine that just runs, and the whole cast is like a family. They’ve been doing it forever.”
Jon Ecker, known for his role as Greg Grainger in Chicago Fire, served as Lieutenant at Firehouse 40. Although his time on NBC’s Chicago Fire was brief, the actor cherishes the moments he spent there in the Windy City. During his stint on Chicago Fire, Greg had a short-lived romance with Sylvie in Season 9. However, Sylvie ultimately found her happy ending and moved into a relationship with Matt Casey, relocating to Portland.
Ecker also noted, “That was a fun show. I had a lot of fun doing research about being a firefighter and wearing all the gear. It’s like a kid going to see the big trucks and stuff. It’s a lot of fun. And people love that show, which is always great to kind of, even if it’s just for a little short run, be a part of something that has such a large fan base.”
Despite everything, Jon appeared optimistic about his character having a solid fan base, as there were hopes for his return. “They called me once to kind of go back for another episode, and I was working on another show, and I couldn’t do it, and I really wish I had because it’s just a great group of people.”
Ecker concluded by stating, “Should the phone ring again one day, I’d be stoked to return.”
